Tables - Library Tables, Writing Tables, Sofa Tables

Antique library tables, writing tables and sofa tables have been put together in the same category because they share a similar format of proportion and therefore similar uses in the home. These sort of tables are just as useful now as when they were made as a writing desk, side table and behind a sofa. However, because these tables are usually wide but narrow in depth and almost always free standing, they have the flexibility to each used each as a side table against a wall, or behind a sofa with flowers or family photographs but also to sit at as an occasional desk for writing with either pen or laptop. The usefulness of this sort of table, together with its ability to multitask and the fact that it normally resides in a prominent position in the house, make it a valuable addition to an interior and well worth investing in as fine an example as you can find.

Antique library table by Williams and Gibton of Dublin, unusually with pollard oak surface over a very fine end support base.
